Mega Writing Project: Let's Argue!!                                                     
Due Date: 02.28.2017
Subject: Writing

Common Core Standards: W.6.1 A-E

The students will choose between three topics. They are can graffiti ever be considered art, does pop culture deserve serious study or are we loosing the art of listening. Students are creating esays on an argument/claim of his/her choice. Students will have the opportunity to research online and type their reports. Students will also have access to library books to aid them in their research.

 

After watching videos, reading articles, reading books, discussing with peers, and taking many notes, students will compile a planning sheet that included the basics for their reports.

  • Students will type their essays using Google Docs.
  • Students will practice the art of paraphrasing! They edited using a variety of strategies. 
  • Students will use a transitions box to intentionally add transitions to their pieces.
  • Students will include text features in their reports: illustrations with captions, diagrams, charts, etc.
  • Students will CLEAN EDIT their essays.

The students will explore the possibilities of nuclear power and form their own educated opinion. Students are creating essays on an argument/claim of his/her choice. Students will have the opportunity to research online and type their reports. Students will also have access to library books to aid them in their research.
